New £3 million ward for Telford Hospital

Telford's Princess Royal Hospital will open a new ward as part of a winter plan.

Health bosses are planning to open the new ward in January which is set to have around 30 beds for patients.

Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, are hoping to secure funding for the project and is currently awaiting the final sign-off from NHS bosses.

It is anticipated that an additional 172 beds will be needed to meet peak demand in January 2019.

Also under review has been the Accident and Emergency departments which continue to face pressures of a high demand.

The trust's winter plan will be put before the trust board in tomorrows meeting.
