Shropshire's first ever ReCreation Day is part of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust Heritage Weekend.
The free, family event will take place on Saturday 22nd September 2018 at Dale End Park, Ironbridge from 10am to 4pm.
The event will include food and drink, a variety of stalls, offer plenty of activities to entertain the children and showcase local talented artists. Visitors will also get to see the Telford 50th gold recycling truck and the upcycled dragon from Telford Carnival.
Children will also be able to enjoy a series of free workshops, including 'Whack It Smack It' who specialise in making musical instruments from recycling and 'Scrappies' who create crafts from rubbish.
The Ironbridge Gorge Park and Ride will operate on Saturday 22 September where a fast and frequent bus service will operate to Ironbridge for a small charge of £1 for adults and 50p for children under 16 years of age.
The event, organised by Veolia, is part of the added value included in the Telford & Wrekin Council waste contract to support projects to benefit the community and environment.
Sarah Maythorne, Veolia’s Special Projects Officer said, “We are thrilled to be hosting this event with Telford & Wrekin Council to show that rubbish can be recreated into something beautiful!
Shaun Davies, Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council said, “I am thrilled to be supporting the ReCreation Day as part of our partnership with Veolia.
"This will be a great opportunity to showcase local, independent businesses as well as offering a free family day out for families in celebration of the town’s 50th birthday.”
