A soldier statue has been stolen from the town.

One of Market Drayton's silhouette soldiers, which was put up to commemorate the First World War century, has been taken from Phoenix Bank.

Police announced that the statue was taken over the weekend.

The statue is part of the black soldier statues which have appeared in towns and villages across the UK to mark 100 years since the formal end of the war.
