Oswestry attempted murder update: Isolated Incident

Officers in Oswestry have urged people not to be alarmed after a 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.


Police have announced that the attack, which left a 15-year-old boy in critical condition, was an isolated incident.


A 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and after reports of a serious assault at St Oswald's Church graveyard between 3pm and 4pm on Friday.


The teenager remained in police custody over the weekend but on Monday, it was confirmed that he was released on bail.


Tracy Ryan, Inspector for the Oswestry area said: "We have had an increased police presence in the town and are continuing that.


"We are continuing to investigate the incident, and are appealing for anyone with information to step forward.


"There is no need for the people of the town to be alarmed, this is an isolated incident and there isn't a threat or impact on the wider community."
